Mind – body – soul, health, long term well-being, mindset, Frame of mind, conscious lifestyle are some of the varied departments that are prevalent when it comes to addictions and there degrading impact.

And then the mind gave up on !

Yes, the very same mind gave up on something which became one of the detour.

Compartmentalizing Addictions

Addictions are varied. Some lead towards upgrade, others are degrading.

And then there are various compartments of upgrade and degrade.

Mind – body – soul, health, long term well-being, mindset, Frame of mind, conscious lifestyle are some of the varied departments that are prevalent when it comes to addictions and there degrading impact.

While all addictions are not degrading, some lead to minor degrade, while others gradually lead to permanent one.

And then we can compartmentalize what are the outputs of a certain addiction.

Is it upgrading or degrading ? Will it cause major , moderate or minor upgrade/degrade.

Nonetheless, at most of the times we do not require rocket-science or creation of a new framework to determine what will be an impact of this addiction. It comes up evidently if it requires to be curbed or it is just one of the normal habits that will not have any lasting impact.

Global Leaders and their candid take on leaving Addictions

I admire light-hearted approach by some of the global leaders and their candid take on leaving similar addictions. When you are representing global organization and you provide a sense of upgrade in yourself by leaving a permanent addiction on global platform – it improves many lives in one way or another.

It indirectly connects us with large audiences who relate themselves with us, with what was going in our mind, and what approach was utilized to get through the same.

What is the real removal of Addiction and why it has nothing to do with your overall self

Two major aspects popped out during this entire tryst:

1. My Mind Gave up on this addiction which was the real freedom. While leaving this major addiction having long term degrading impact was a major upgrade in my last 3 years, the most underlying factor that I realized was that my mind gave up on that pressing addiction.

So, I won over my mind and ultimately my mind won in the tryst of removing this degrading addiction from my life. That in itself is a real freedom.

If you have succumbed this addiction, it will again emerge and you would be gravitated on the same. That is not real freedom. Since you have just succumbed it and your underlying layers still hold that gravitation towards the addiction. However, when your mind gives up – that is the most surreal upgrade.

I read it in my childhood – when you have strong addiction to something and you do not fuel it for a long enough time without thinking too much about the same, the mind ultimately gives up. You do not identify yourself with that addiction or habit.

2. Buddhism says that picking up an addiction is not equivalent to being a bad person. While there are pre-conceived mappings, many global leaders have stood out and provided their approach of leaving any addiction.

"Buddhism explains why people become addicted in the first place. This description does not suggest that the individual is a bad person. They are merely deluded, just as are most other humans. Addicts can spend a great deal of time wondering about the source of their affection, and this philosophy offers a good explanation."

There are rigorous and effort driven approaches to leave something and then there are light-hearted ways to remove any addiction from your lifestyle.

There are various factors that had been prevalent in the entire transition :

A. Increased adherence towards conscious well-being and diet was one of them

B. Increasing my emphasis on hobbies and interest which are really upgrading

C. Taking a long-term decision of removing all addictions which had degrading effect

Removing Addiction with the approach of Introspection

The most prevalent factor during picking or leaving any virtue or addiction finally ends up with – Do you really identify yourself with this ?

If yes, it would be really mind-boggling to remove it from your life after a certain stage.

If no, then you would have to get confirmation from your underlying factors if it is really something that you do not identify yourself with or is it just a push-over.

With thorough introspection only, you can get the answer and remove any degrading addiction.

Friendships and Addictions

While your social circle would also be compartmentalized in the terms of their viewpoint on a certain addiction, your bond with them is never a function of your adherence with the addiction.

While some friends bond with you over a certain addiction and that's how you gel up with each other, there are other groups that do not aim to see you with that addiction.

When you leave any addiction, your bond with the friends with whom you shared their trait never gets affected. Since that addiction was not the foundational core of how you bonded with someone, it was just a passing catalyzer. Most importantly, you would end up wishing your friends to leave up such an addiction as well since you inherently wish them upgrade in the longer facets of life. While there are limits to which one can convince their friends, ultimately it is inherent wish to see them upgrade and not get into degrading addiction having severe effect on their well-being, mindset or well-ness. On the other hand, those who had been adamant for you to leave that addiction would be more than joyous to see you upgrading yourself from the prevalent vice.

Increased Consciousness around Consumption

Modern, Urban, Fast-fashioned and other tags are not correlated with picking up degrading addictions. The present generation and youth is now becoming conscious of their lifestyle and making an assessment on how a particular part of their lives would get affected by any addiction. While their urban outlook, aspirations and ambitions are still intact – their outlook on addictions is shifting gradually with increased know-how of long-term effect of degrading addictions. Spirituality, upgrading interests and hobbies, mind-body-soul upgrade are taking major place in the lifestyle of youth and modern generations. This generation is conscious enough to not get swayed with any addiction, manage their bonds & friendships and at the same time pick up interests & hobbies that lead to an upgrade. India is progressing in the multiple facets around personal growth and upgrade.

Ending this with a note-worthy quote by a global leader:

"The view you adopt for yourself profoundly affects the way you lead your life."
