Seborrheic dermatitis, or ‘seborrheic eczema’, or just ‘seborrhea’, is the grownup version, usually with some inflammation, of the ‘cradle cap’ that babies get. No one is completely sure why it happens. There may be a yeast infection involved, and other genetic and environmental factors.
Treatment
The usual treatment, whatever the cause, is topical antifungal and anti-inflammatory cream. Coal tar shampoos and light treatment can also help.
