Expanded carrier access gives owner-operators and fleets more options at renewal, when outdated coverage and late shopping typically drive the biggest premium increases.
Alvix Insurance Group, a commercial trucking insurance agency serving owner-operators and small fleets across the United States, today announced it has grown its carrier network to more than 30 partners, giving clients a wider range of options to compare at the point they need it most, trucking insurance renewal.
The expanded network comes as Alvix reports a consistent pattern among clients heading into renewal season: premium increases that trace back not to driving history, but to applications that were never updated and renewals shopped against only one carrier rather than several.
"Most of the renewal increases we see aren't really about risk changing, they're about options narrowing," said Mr. Pedro Figueredo, Managing Head at Alvix Insurance Group. "When a client is only being quoted by one or two carriers, there's no real competition driving the rate down, and no flexibility if that carrier's appetite for trucking risk shifts. Growing our network to 30-plus partners means every renewal we handle gets shopped properly, with real alternatives on the table instead of a single take-it-or-leave-it number."
With the expanded network in place, Alvix is positioning the additional carrier relationships specifically around renewal season, when fleet owners are most likely to see unexpected rate changes. The agency says a wider carrier base allows it to:
- Compare renewal terms across more than 30 carriers for cargo, liability, and physical damage coverage, rather than defaulting to a single incumbent's renewal offer,
- Match fleets to carriers whose underwriting appetite best fits their specific operation, equipment, and commodity type,
- Offer more consistent renewal pricing even as individual carriers tighten or loosen their trucking risk appetite year over year
Give clients added flexibility if a long-standing carrier relationship changes terms or exits a segment of the trucking market.
Alvix recommends fleet owners begin their trucking insurance renewal review 45 to 60 days before their policy expires, giving agents time to shop the expanded carrier network, verify that coverage limits and application details are current, and identify savings before the renewal deadline rather than after a higher premium has already been issued.
"A bigger carrier network only helps if clients come to the table early enough to use it. "That's really the shift we're making with this expansion, giving owner-operators and fleets more leverage at the exact moment in the year when they have the least of it."
