Editing a PDF generally involves one of two options: either opening paid desktop software, or uploading the file to some website and hoping for the best with where it goes. Softaken Software's newly released Edit PDF tool gives you a third option - a full editing workspace that opens right in your browser, never transmitting the file anywhere.
The tool is now live at softaken.com/online/edit-pdf/. Drop in a PDF and it opens as a working document, with pages displayed as thumbnails that can be dragged into a new order, rotated, deleted or pulled out individually. From there, users can add text boxes, highlight sections, draw freehand, insert shapes, insert images, place a signature or leave a sticky note — all right on the page, with changes visible immediately before anything is saved.

The workspace also manages document-level changes in addition to markup: adding a watermark, inserting page numbers, and editing metadata such as the title and author. When the file is downloaded, everything is applied, and the edits are baked into the PDF permanently.
