Led by a triple board-certified specialist, the Denver practice treats sleep and jaw disorders with oral appliances and other CPAP-free options

Denver Sleep Center, led by Steven Wilk, DDS, is helping Colorado patients address sleep apnea, snoring, broader sleep disorders, and headaches linked to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders through personalized, nonsurgical care.

Poor sleep and chronic jaw or head pain are often connected, yet patients are frequently treated for each problem separately. Denver Sleep Center looks at the whole picture. Its team evaluates how breathing, sleep quality and jaw function affect each other, then builds a treatment plan around the patient’s needs.

Care across four areas

Sleep apnea treatment: For patients with obstructive sleep apnea who cannot tolerate or do not want CPAP, the practice offers comfortable oral appliance therapy and other CPAP alternatives.
Snoring treatment: Custom devices designed to keep the airway open and reduce snoring, which can also be an early sign of a more serious sleep-related breathing problem.
Sleep disorders: Evaluation and personalized treatment to help restore healthy sleep patterns.
Headaches and TMJ disorders: Therapies aimed at jaw tension, facial pain and chronic headaches, including TMJ pain management and BOTOX® injections where appropriate.

Testing from home

Patients can begin with a home sleep test using portable devices such as WatchPAT One. The process includes a consultation, delivery of the device, testing in the patient’s own bed, expert analysis of oxygen levels, heart rate and breathing patterns, and a personalized treatment plan.

“Many people live with snoring, exhaustion or morning headaches for years because they assume nothing can be done, or that CPAP is their only option,” said Dr. Steven Wilk. “Jessica Oliver”

Dr. Wilk is a triple board-certified specialist in Orofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine with more than 40 years of experience. He is also fellowship-trained in physical therapy modalities, BOTOX®, trigger point and nerve block injections.

Who should get checked

Anyone who snores loudly, wakes up tired, wakes with headaches or jaw soreness, or has been told they stop breathing during sleep should consider an evaluation. Physicians can also refer patients to the practice.
