His services grew to another stage of his life through his participation in local government administration as a Municipal Mayor, which saw him being popularly elected Executive Mayor of the Mbombela Local Municipality in 2008-2011. During his time in office, the municipal local authority prepared for the FIFA 2010 World Cup football tournament, as is reported on the government website and confirmed by official records such as the 2009 Mpumalanga State of the Province Address, which referred to him as the newly elected Mayor of Mbombela, and the 2010 Government Speech, which listed him among the Executive Mayor of the World Cup football tournament host city.
