Anglie Johns Champions Leadership Development That Creates Lasting Workplace Change

Executive coach and leadership facilitator Anglie Johns helps UK organisations develop stronger leaders, improve employee engagement and build inclusive workplace cultures through practical coaching and management training.

Anglie Johns has spent 20 years building people-focused approach to leadership, and her core argument is simple: most workplace training doesn’t actually change anything. A session happens, everyone nods, and six months later nobody behaves differently. Her work is built around closing that gap.

She came to this from the inside. Before setting up on her own, Anglie spent more than 15 years in commercial and HR roles at Waitrose and John Lewis, working across resourcing, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, and organisational change. That background across financial services, retail, FMCG, consulting, engineering and media shows up in how she coaches — she’s not advising from the outside, she’s been the person managing the actual problem.

Executive Coaching That Goes Beyond Advice

One-to-one, she works through the things leaders tend to avoid: difficult conversations, senior stakeholder relationships, confidence, what inclusive leadership actually looks like day to day. The sessions mix practical tools with honest pushback — she’ll challenge a leader’s version of events as readily as she’ll support it. Drawing on Transactional Analysis, Cultural Intelligence and StrengthsFinder, she gets leaders to notice their own assumptions and take ownership of what happens next, rather than waiting to be told.

Practical Management Training for Lasting Results

Her training work follows the same logic — built for honest conversation and real behaviour change, not a tidy slide deck. At Nomad Foods, she ran group coaching workshops on inclusive leadership and inclusive hiring for directors across Europe. The workshops didn’t end when her contract did: they became part of Nomad’s regular learning offer, and she trained internal staff to run them without her. That’s the point. One-off sessions rarely stick; capability that stays inside the organisation does.

Making Inclusion Part of Everyday Leadership

Her unconscious bias and cultural intelligence work looks at how assumptions actually show up — in hiring, in who gets developed, in who gets heard. She pairs the awareness piece with practical exercises and discussion, pushing leaders to notice who they’re overlooking and make more considered calls. She’s also run roundtables for ethnic minority networks, giving employees space to talk about what they’re actually experiencing at work and what organisations could do differently.

Improving Employee Engagement and Workplace Culture

At MindGym, she redesigned the new-joiner experience, and retention, speed to productivity, and engagement all improved. At Avery, she built a strategy spanning leadership development, employee engagement, talent and culture. What she’s taken from this work is that engagement isn’t really a survey score — it’s whether people feel valued, included, and genuinely connected to where they work.

Born in London to Indian immigrant parents, Anglie brings a personal understanding of navigating different cultural perspectives to the work, alongside the commercial and HR grounding. It’s part of why she pushes leaders to understand people properly, not just manage them.

She works with senior leaders and organisations who want honest, practical support — developing managers, improving leadership effectiveness, and building workplaces that are genuinely more inclusive.
