[Yonkers, NY — August 26, 2026] This year the Appliance Doctor was one of eight sponsors of
Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano’s “Backpack to School Drive”. Five hundred backpacks filled with
school supplies were presented to students at Yonkers Public School 23, the same school Anthony
Attanasio (“The Appliance Doctor”) attended from kindergarten through sixth grade.
“I’m deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our community and sponsors,” said Mayor Spano.
“Together, we’ve assembled an extraordinary collection of backpacks and school supplies for
Yonkers students—setting them up for a strong and confident start to the school year.”
“Preparing our children for a successful school year is both a shared responsibility and a joyful
privilege,” said Board of Education President Dr. Rosalba Corrado Del Vecchio. “On behalf of all the
Trustees, I join the Mayor in expressing our heartfelt gratitude to the generous donors whose support
provides backpacks and school supplies, helping every student begin the year prepared, confident,
and ready to learn. Together, we are giving our children more than supplies—we are giving them
encouragement, opportunity, and a strong start.”
Since 2012, Mayor Spano’s annual donation drive has distributed over 31,000 backpacks and school
supplies to public school students. Due to the continuous outpouring of support each year, non-profit
organizations, churches and clients of the Westchester County Department of Social Services in the
City of Yonkers are also able to receive backpacks and school supplies.
The Appliance Doctor is proud to support this worthy cause each year.
