President Marcos Jr. ordered swift action after a whistleblower exposed tax evasion, bribery, and borrower abuse by Asialink Group. Filed on Sept. 3, 2025, the complaint sparked prompt investigations, reinforcing his anti-corruption drive.

Manila, Philippines – In a significant development reinforcing President Ferdinand "BBM" Marcos Jr.’s steadfast commitment to eradicating corruption at every level, an anonymous whistleblower has come forward with alarming allegations against the Asialink Group of Companies, prompting urgent government action.

On September 3, 2025, a concerned employee lodged a formal complaint through the 8888 Citizen’s Complaint Hotline, exposing widespread unethical practices, including tax evasion, bribery, and exploitation of Filipino borrowers within the company. The whistleblower's actions have set in motion a series of events that highlight the government’s resolve in addressing corporate malfeasance.

A mere week after the initial complaint, on September 10, 2025, the Office for Facilitation of Presidential Assistance issued a formal referral to the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), requesting a full-scale investigation into the allegations. The complaint, which underscores the company's systematic violations, includes claims of financial fraud, illegal business practices, and the harassment of vulnerable individuals.

Among the most serious accusations are:

1. Tax Evasion and Bribery - the Asialink Group is accused of orchestrating a complex scheme to underreport employee salaries and inflate business expenses, thereby evading taxes. The whistleblower has also implicated key company figures in bribing government officials to suppress audits and investigations.

2. Licensing Violations and Unlawful Operations - the complaint alleges that Asialink operated numerous branches without the necessary licenses, and its online lending platforms, which target Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs), have been functioning without the required regulatory approvals from the SEC.

3. Harassment and Forced Repossessions - disturbingly, the whistleblower outlines a pattern of aggressive and unlawful collection practices, including forced vehicle repossessions, often in violation of borrowers’ rights. This pattern of exploitation has been linked to significant financial gain for the company at the expense of struggling Filipino families.

In a compelling plea for accountability, the whistleblower has called on the government to take swift action, requesting an investigation into the full scope of Asialink’s operations, a comprehensive audit of its financials, and an inquiry into the company’s relationships with government officials, particularly within Pasig City.

The complaint has been referred to the appropriate regulatory bodies, with the Office for Facilitation of Presidential Assistance specifically urging the BIR, SEC, and NBI to launch a multi-agency task force to address these grave issues. The administration’s dedication to supporting whistleblowers and ensuring that corporations uphold the law is evident in this rapid response.

President Marcos has continually underscored the importance of transparency and integrity in governance, and this case stands as a testament to the government's unwavering resolve to hold corporate entities accountable for unethical practices. As the investigation progresses, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a level playing field where no entity is above the law.
