Starting on July 1, 2012, all California automotive dealers are required by law to run vehicle history reports from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) before they can have a vehicle for sale.

In preparation for the upcoming changes to California law, AutoManager has integrated access to the NMVTIS system and enables dealers to pull reports for all of their vehicles through DeskManager and WebManager.

If a report returns that the vehicle “is or has been a junk automobile or a salvage automobile or the vehicle has been reported as a junk automobile or a salvage automobile by a junk yard, salvage yard, or insurance carrier...or the certificate of title contains a brand," a red NMVTIS warning label has to be put on the vehicle next to the buyer's guide or the dealer can face a fine.

Dealer's who currently use AutoManager's DMS will find it easier to run these reports given that their inventory is already in their DeskManager, facilitating the NMVTIS check to just one click to get the vehicle history report.

At the moment, the NMVTIS reports are currently offered in English and Spanish.
