Founded in 2020, KIMCHANGSOO DISTILLERY is an independent Korean craft distillery established by master distiller Kim Changsoo, a pioneer of Korean single malt whisky. Driven by his passion to create a truly Korean-made whisky, Kim studied traditional methods by visiting numerous Scottish distilleries and further refined his expertise through technical training in Japan, where he gained hands-on experience in small-scale, precision-focused production.

Located in Gimpo near Seoul, the distillery began as a small artisanal operation equipped with self-designed stills. Emphasizing quality ingredients, careful distillation, and experimental cask maturation, the distillery benefits from Korea’s dramatic seasonal climate, which accelerates the interaction between spirit and oak and gives the whisky a distinctive character.

Since its launch, Kim Changsoo Whisky has gained strong domestic and international recognition. Limited releases have sold out quickly, and global media such as Whisky Magazine have highlighted its unique approach to lightly peated single malt inspired by Islay yet shaped by Korea’s environment.

With a second, larger production facility under development in Andong, KIMCHANGSOO DISTILLERY continues to expand its capacity and vision, strengthening the global presence of Korean craft whisky while remaining committed to quality and artisanal craftsmanship.
