The virtual camera for Apple-silicon Macs works in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime and OBS, keeps video on the Mac, and is open for beta access requests ahead of its Mac App Store launch
Camlune today introduced its AI beauty camera for Apple-silicon Macs, a virtual camera that applies makeup, grooming and lighting looks in real time and appears as a regular camera in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, OBS and any other Mac app that lets users choose a camera. Camlune is available now to beta testers and is coming soon to the Mac App Store, with launch planned for mid-November 2026, pending App Store review.
Camlune adds a camera called Camlune Virtual Camera to the Mac. Users select it once in an app's video settings, and the same look follows them from a morning stand-up to an evening live stream, with no plug-ins and no browser extensions. Google Meet and Microsoft Teams work in the app or in the browser, and streamers can use it on Twitch, YouTube Live and TikTok Live through OBS Studio or Streamlabs.
The app includes 29 looks designed for the camera, from barely-there everyday looks to full glam. Each look is a recipe of makeup, sculpting and light, and every look has an intensity setting from 0 to 150%. Users can compare against their original camera at any time.
For people who want more control, Camlune's studio offers face-tracked controls for makeup, eyes and brows, lips, hair color, light and color grading, and background blur, removal or replacement. An eye contact feature lets users look at their notes and still meet the camera. Users can save their own looks and bring them back in one click.
Camlune is also built for men. Eighteen of the 29 looks are designed for him, including Interview, Podcast, Sharp Beard, Silver Fox and Leading Man. Choosing For Him opens a Grooming section with on-camera beard fill, edge tidying and grey coverage. Every grooming control starts at zero, so nothing changes until the user moves a slider.
Privacy is built into how the app works. Camlune's AI runs on the Apple Neural Engine, where face tracking and face parsing each take about 2 milliseconds, and effects render on the GPU with Metal. Frames are processed in memory and handed straight to the virtual camera. Camlune never records, stores or uploads users' video or images, and never uses them to train AI. The app sends usage statistics and crash reports that never include images, and users can turn both off. An account is optional; Sign in with Apple is needed only for referrals or Pro on several Macs.
"We built Camlune for the hours we all spend on camera, so you can look like yourself on a good day on every call, without your video ever leaving your Mac," said Abhishek Shrivastava, Founder of Camlune.
The virtual camera is a native macOS camera extension, Apple's secure and sandboxed way to add a camera. Users approve it once in System Settings, and it is removed along with the app.
Availability and pricing
Camlune is available now to beta testers. Beta testers can request access at https://topahead.com/beta. The app is coming soon to the Mac App Store, with launch planned for mid-November 2026, pending App Store review. It requires a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and works with the built-in camera, a USB webcam or an iPhone through Continuity Camera. Camlune outputs 720p video.
Camlune will be free to download, with four everyday looks (Bare Skin, Glass Skin, Natural Groomed and Well-Rested), core controls including lipstick, exposure, temperature and background blur, one saved custom look, and a small Camlune watermark.
Camlune Pro will cost $59.99 per year or $9.99 per month, each with a 2-week free trial, or $149.99 once for lifetime access. Pro unlocks all 29 looks, face shape, the full makeup and eye controls, hair color, cinematic grades and pro lighting, background remove and replace, eye contact and unlimited saved looks, and removes the watermark. Prices are in U.S. dollars; local prices and taxes are shown in the App Store. Billing is handled by Apple.
