BYD India has introduced the Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition to mark one year since the EV entered the Indian market. Bookings opened on 17 March with a token amount of Rs 70,000 across BYD dealerships. The special edition keeps the same vehicle but adds a few ownership benefits and a new interior theme for early buyers. Prices remain unchanged. The Sealion 7 Premium variant starts at Rs 49.40 lakh while the Performance variant is priced at Rs 54.90 lakh, both ex-showroom.

The main focus of the Anniversary Edition is on early customers. BYD has announced a benefits package for the first 1100 buyers who book the SUV before 30 April. These customers will receive a complimentary 11kW home charger with installation. The company is also offering two years of free service and maintenance. The low-voltage Battery using LFP technology gets an extended warranty of 8 years or 150,000 km. The high-voltage traction battery continues with its 8-year or 160,000 km warranty.

The Anniversary Edition also gets a new Tahiti Blue interior theme. Apart from this, the exterior design remains unchanged. The SUV continues with BYD’s ocean-inspired styling. Inside the cabin, the Sealion 7 features a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen running the BYD DLink system with navigation, voice control and smartphone connectivity. The driver also gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument display and a head-up display projecting driving information on the windshield. Nappa leather seats, panoramic glass roof, 50W wireless charging and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system are included.

Powering the SUV is BYD’s 82.56 kWh Blade Battery. The Premium version uses a Rear-Wheel-Drive layout and offers a driving range of up to 567km. The Performance variant uses an All-Wheel-Drive setup and produces up to 690Nm of torque. That allows the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in about 4.5 seconds. The Rear-Wheel-Drive version takes around 6.7 seconds. The range for the Performance model is rated at roughly 542km.

On the safety front, the SUV comes equipped with front, side and curtain airbags for passenger protection. Electronic Stability Control works with traction control and vehicle dynamic control to maintain stability during sudden manoeuvres. The braking system also includes electronic brakeforce distribution and hydraulic brake assist.

ADAS features add support. Adaptive cruise control manages speed in traffic, while lane centring and emergency lane keeping assist if the vehicle begins drifting. Blind spot detection monitors areas that the mirrors cannot easily see, and a 360-degree camera assists during parking.

The Sealion 7 First Anniversary Edition does not change the SUV itself. It simply marks one year of the model in India while offering added benefits for early customers. The car remains the same. The ownership experience gets a little better.
