84 Surfaces Trade on a Casino Game's Name, Open Census Finds — the Game Itself Has No App, No Website and No Download

Chicken Road Productions catalogued every surface trading on the crash game Chicken Road's name and published the full register as an open dataset (DOI: 10.5281/zenodo.23975629). 65 of the 84 present themselves as the game or its download source.

Chicken Road Productions, an independent publication that analyses crash games with published data, today released the results of a full census of the surfaces trading on the name of Chicken Road — a casino game supplied to online casinos only, which has no consumer app, no official website, no downloadable file and no notification service.

The census, carried out and verified surface by surface on 29 October 2026, catalogues 84 surfaces in seven families:

- 25 listings in the largest Android app store — where a single search returns around fifty listings under the game's name on its first page;
- 21 standalone websites presenting themselves as the game or its official site;
- 14 listings on APK mirror sites, which offer the game as a downloadable file outside any app store;
- 13 country-targeted pages routing visitors to casinos;
- 3 listings on a second app gallery, and 2 apps in the other major store embedding a clone of the game;
- 6 public reports and alert pages documenting the phenomenon.

65 of the 84 surfaces present themselves as the game, its official site, its developer or its download source. Each surface is recorded for what it claims to be and what it asks the visitor to do — an app install, a notification permission, a sign-up — and graded by evidence: 72 surfaces were verified by a direct visit, 10 recorded from search results, and 2 could not be opened on census day.

The verification pass found the pattern goes further than a borrowed game name. At least one catalogued site presents itself, in the first person, as the developer's own official site, with a licence claim. A family of at least eight domains each titles itself the official site of the game's sequel, displaying licence numbers that contradict each other and release dates (March and June 2023) that predate the sequel's actual release on 15 April 2025. The study was triggered by a public report from a person whose phone received a notification titled "Chicken Road | PLAY NOW" although they had never played the game; the census documents, in the operators' own words on three catalogued sites, installation packages that market an APK install and its push notifications as a single product. One catalogued app has since been removed from its store; its captured permission list included notifications and camera access.

"The game has no channel to a phone that does not play it," said Andrew Dagor, researcher at Chicken Road Productions. "Everything that arrives under its name — the app, the download, the notification — was built by someone else. The census counts those surfaces one by one and publishes the register, so the count can be checked rather than believed."
