Concept presentation follows finalisation of the floor plan and an agreed brief covering the client's preferred look, feel and style. Each concept sets out the complete intended character of the space rather than a variation on a single idea.
"Charging a client to change their mind at concept stage is how you end up building something nobody wanted," said Mithila S., Founder and Principal, Chie Design. "People cannot always describe what they want, but they know it when they see it. If the third option is not it, the answer is a fourth option, not an invoice."
The commitment sits inside a documented process that runs from client brief and spatial planning through schematic and detailed design development to 3D visualisation, then into BOQs and tender documentation, contractor and vendor appointment, quality control through GFC packages, site reviews and handover.
Material selection is handled by the design team, which shortlists tiles, fabrics, veneers, laminates and paint shades and prepares a mood board for approval, with vendor visits arranged where a client wants to attend one. For clients taking the studio's turnkey contracting service, a detailed estimate follows approval of the 3D views.
Founder Mithila S. has worked in design for over 15 years on luxury residential, hospitality and mixed-use projects for private clients in India and abroad, including a private villa in Doha.
