Pune-based SAP authorized training institute explains what employers list for Fiori and UI5 developers and how graduates in India can prepare
PUNE, India | November 2, 2026 | Delphi Computech, an SAP authorized training institute with offices in Pune, Mumbai and Thane, today shared an analysis of the skills employers currently list for SAP Fiori and UI5 roles in India. The review shows that these roles combine front-end development with data services, cloud tooling and upgrade-safe design.
SAP Fiori is the user experience layer of SAP S/4HANA. SAPUI5 is the framework used to build and extend Fiori apps. Together they decide how finance teams, buyers, warehouse staff and managers actually see and use SAP every day. As organisations move to S/4HANA they look for people who can build these screens properly.
What current job descriptions ask for
Delphi Computech reviewed recent Fiori and UI5 role descriptions published by Deloitte India, YASH Technologies, HCLTech and a Pune-based employer. Four skill areas appear again and again.
• Fiori Elements and annotations. Employers want developers who can build standard List Report and Object Page apps quickly instead of coding every screen by hand.
• OData services and CDS views. Deloitte India lists CDS views as mandatory for one Bengaluru consultant role. Fiori apps are only as good as the data services behind them.
• SAP BTP and developer tooling. Roles mention SAP Business Technology Platform, SAP Business Application Studio and Git for version control.
• Upgrade-safe extensibility. A Pune listing asks candidates to explain how they extend S/4HANA without breaking future upgrades, a principle SAP calls clean core.
The same listings also show a way in for newcomers. One HCLTech role in Pune is written for a junior front-end developer working with UI5 and Fiori. A Deloitte India consultant listing in Hyderabad states that any graduate can apply and treats an SAP certification in Fiori or UI5 as a plus.
Why the skill mix is changing
Earlier SAP screens were mostly built by ABAP developers using classic tools. Fiori changed that by bringing in web technologies such as JavaScript, XML views and responsive design. Employers now often need one person who understands the browser side and the SAP data side.
The job titles still say Fiori developer but the work sits between design, web development and SAP data models. Graduates who learn only one of these three areas may find that their profile looks incomplete to a recruiter.
How a graduate can prepare
Delphi Computech suggests the following order of learning for students and fresh graduates.
1. Learn the web basics first. JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3 are the base for everything in UI5.
2. Build one complete worklist app. Connect it to an OData service and practise data binding, navigation and error handling.
3. Move to Fiori Elements. Understand annotations and learn when a standard template is better than custom code.
4. Study the data layer. CDS views and ABAP on HANA concepts explain where Fiori data comes from. Learners can read more in the SAP ABAP on HANA training overview.
5. Get familiar with BTP. Cloud development is now part of many job descriptions. This earlier article on why SAP BTP is becoming a must-have skill explains the business reasons.
6. Keep a portfolio. A short list of working apps with source code in Git speaks louder than a list of tool names.
Training that follows the same path
Delphi Computech runs a structured SAP Fiori programme in five parts. It starts with Fiori foundation topics such as architecture and configuration. It then moves through SAPUI5 development and advanced UI5 topics such as custom controls and testing. The last parts cover Fiori Elements development and Fiori design guidelines with UI enhancement techniques.
The programme is open to graduates from fields such as BSc and BCA along with BE or BTech and MCA. Graduates with a design background are also eligible. Freshers are welcome.
