Dynamix Agitators today announced the introduction of its enhanced tote tank mixer product line, developed specifically to address the mixing challenges posed by intermediate bulk container geometry and the consistent failures of standard agitator equipment in IBC applications.
The new tote tank mixer configurations represent the outcome of detailed application analysis and customer feedback, which consistently identified a performance gap between what operations expected from IBC mixing and what standard equipment delivered when applied to the IBC format without specific design considerations for its geometry and access constraints.
"The IBC tote is not a cylindrical open-top tank, and the mixing results confirm that when standard equipment is applied to it without adjustment," explained a Dynamix engineering representative. "The square cross-section, the enclosed format, the aspect ratio, and the limited top access all create conditions that require specific design responses. Our enhanced tote tank mixer line addresses those conditions directly rather than treating IBC mixing as a standard agitation application in a different container."
The enhanced tote tank mixer range covers the viscosity spectrum encountered in IBC mixing applications across the chemical, food, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors. Low-viscosity applications where flow-pattern geometry is the primary design consideration. Medium viscosity applications where power input and impeller design need to account for the reduced mobility of the product within the IBC geometry. High-viscosity applications where direct material movement, rather than bulk-flow momentum, is the mechanism for achieving adequate mixing.
Material compatibility across the range of products processed in IBC formats has been a specific focus of the development program. Wetted components are available in materials specified for corrosive chemical environments, food-contact applications, and the cleaning-protocol demands of sanitary processing operations.
Portable configuration options that enable a single tote tank mixer to serve multiple IBCs in rotation are included in the expanded range, addressing the operational patterns of facilities that process different products in IBC formats without requiring dedicated mixing equipment at each container position.
The enhanced tote tank mixer range is available immediately. Engineering consultation for specific IBC mixing applications is available through Dynamix's application engineering team.
