Focusing on the strength of its recent acquisition of Italy-based T.i.S Service S.p.A, the company is now planning to set up an advanced R&D centre and a manufacturing facility in India dedicated to producing such high-performance water valves for domestic and global markets.

ECL, headquartered in Calcutta and promoted by the Kejriwal family, currently operates with an impressive production capacity of almost 850,000 tonnes of Ductile Iron Pipes, making it a dominant player in India’s water infrastructure ecosystem.

Strengthening India’s Valve Manufacturing Capabilities

The domestic market for water valves is now estimated to be worth nearly $2 billion, driven by rapid urbanisation, smart city development, as well as upgraded water distribution networks. Also, with the ₹150 crore acquisition of T.i.S Service S.p.A, a specialised Italian valve manufacturer with plants in Italy and Turkey and logistics hubs in Italy and Poland, Electrosteel is ready to offer world-class valve solutions engineered for modern infrastructure.

The Italian company records a turnover of €40 million, and its integration into the ECL portfolio allows Electrosteel to broaden its capabilities beyond pipes and fittings, entering a high-value product category with global demand.

A Major Step Toward Make in India

Future Investments: New DI Pipe Unit in Odisha

Electrosteel is also working towards establishing a new Ductile Iron Pipe manufacturing unit in Odisha, for which the company is awaiting the acquisition of 500 acres of land. The facility also involves an estimated investment of ₹3,000 crore and is expected to further expand the company’s capacity and global competitiveness.
