ClickHelp Releases an Update to Help Documentation Work with AI Tools and Search Engines

Posted April 2, 2026 by ElleMirra

ClickHelp, a cloud-based documentation platform for software teams, announced a new product update designed to make technical documentation readable and discoverable by AI assistants, large language models, and modern search engines.

As tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and AI-powered search become the primary way users look for information, documentation that isn't optimized for these tools risks going unnoticed. ClickHelp's latest release addresses this directly with a set of new features built around AI compatibility.

The update includes a completely rebuilt Reader UI that ensures AI bots and search crawlers receive clean access to documentation content, enabling tools like Google, ChatGPT, and Claude to accurately index and surface it in their responses. The new interface is also faster for human readers and improves link previews in platforms like Slack and Jira.

Documentation portals can now serve content in Markdown format, which AI tools and developers prefer over HTML. A new Copy Markdown button lets authors and readers instantly copy any page for use in AI chats. Teams can also publish an llms.txt file — a structured index that helps AI agents understand what content exists across the entire portal.

For teams building AI-powered workflows, ClickHelp introduced an MCP Server that allows AI agents to connect directly to a portal, read its contents, and assist with drafting new documentation. The MCP Server is available free of charge through April 2026.

The release also includes authoring improvements: a streamlined publish flow built into the editor, multiple topic templates, and a new visual editor for reusable content blocks.
