The private island paradise, Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives, will welcome back Active Escapes fitness retreats in 2026, with the highly anticipated AE Festival taking place from 10–17 May. The seven-night retreat is designed for travellers who enjoy combining wellness, adventure and connection while experiencing the natural beauty of the Maldives.
“Everyone’s idea of the perfect holiday is different,” said Sharon Garrett, Director of Marketing & Sustainability at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives.
“Some guests dream of sun-lounging and sunset cocktails, while others thrive on movement, discovery and meeting like-minded people. Active Escapes creates unforgettable getaways for those who want more than just a beach holiday. We are delighted to welcome them back to Kandooma, where fitness, adventure and relaxation come together in a truly inspiring island setting.”
Active Escapes programmes are carefully curated to suit a wide range of interests and fitness levels. Guests can participate in group training sessions, yoga classes, breathwork and recovery experiences while also enjoying ocean-based adventures such as snorkelling, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, reef excursions and optional scuba diving.
The retreat also places strong emphasis on relaxation and balance. Guests can start the day with sunrise yoga overlooking the Indian Ocean, indulge in treatments at Kandooma Spa by COMO Shambhala, or unwind on the beach while enjoying the tranquil surroundings of the island.
Days are filled with energising activities, while evenings offer relaxed social gatherings and exceptional dining experiences prepared by the resort’s culinary team led by Executive Chef Eddie Ng.
The programme is inclusive and social, attracting participants from around the world. Solo travellers represent around half of all bookings globally, with the core age group ranging from 20 to 50 years old. Guests can participate at their own pace with activities designed to accommodate different fitness levels.
Hosts confirmed for the 2026 AE Festival include Kirsty Hendey, Nathan Ryles, Brad Leggett and Zanna Conlan, with additional presenters to be announced closer to the event.
Second release packages start from US$2,700 per person twin share or US$3,600 per person for a single room, excluding flights. Packages include seven nights’ accommodation, speedboat transfers from Malé International Airport, daily brunch and dinner, group fitness sessions, yoga classes, signature island activities, reef snorkelling excursions and a variety of social events.
Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives offers a range of accommodation options including garden villas, beach villas, two-storey beach houses and overwater villas. Guests can also take advantage of flexible payment plans starting with a US$400 deposit.
