CARY, NORTH CAROLINA - September 3, 2026 - Epic Games has introduced Epic Parties, a new social feature that allows players to create parties and use voice chat across Fortnite, the Epic Games Store and Epic's mobile applications. The feature is designed to keep players connected across supported devices and platforms.
Epic says players can use voice chat from the Epic Games Launcher on PC while communicating with friends playing Fortnite on supported consoles or using Epic's mobile apps. Mobile users can continue voice conversations while the app runs in the background. Players can also transfer an active voice chat between the Launcher or mobile apps and Fortnite without dropping the conversation.
Epic Parties also allows players on PC to continue chatting while playing another game from the Epic Games Store. When friends accept an Epic Party invitation, they can automatically enter the same Fortnite lobby when they launch the game. Users can access party functions through the Friends list in the Epic Games Launcher, Fortnite and Epic mobile apps.
The feature includes controls that allow users to mute, block and report other players. Epic also provides a voice-reporting option for suspected violations of its Community Rules.
Epic said the launch is part of its broader work to develop a unified social experience across its ecosystem. The company said social avatars will later extend beyond Fortnite, while similar features are planned for Rocket League and, eventually, for other developers and platforms.
