1) Thermal performance
Thermal conductivity / R-value: lower conductivity = better insulation. Critical for heat flow calculations and thickness decisions.

Operating temperature range: know both continuous and short-term max/min temps — some polymers/thermosets degrade above specific temperatures.

Thermal stability & creep: long-term exposure to heat can reduce performance — important for high-temp and aerospace uses.

2) Electrical properties (for electrical insulation applications)
Dielectric strength (kV/mm) and breakdown voltage.

Volume and surface resistivity.

Dielectric constant and dissipation factor (important for RF, HV, or high-frequency applications).
