Singapore, July 24, 2025 – Greensafe International, a leading provider of workplace safety and health training in Singapore, has announced the launch of its latest program: the Shipyard Safety Instruction Course for Workers (Hot Work) [SSIC(HW)]. This course is specially designed to address the increasing need for certified safety training for workers involved in hot work activities within the shipbuilding and ship repair sectors.

With Singapore being a hub for shipyard and marine-related industries, ensuring the safety of workers is more crucial than ever. The SSIC(HW) course is a mandatory training requirement under the Workplace Safety and Health (Shipbuilding and Ship-Repairing) Regulations, which mandates that all personnel engaged in hot work must undergo approved safety instruction before commencing work at shipyards.

Hot work, which includes tasks like welding, flame cutting, grinding, and thermal operations, carries a high risk of fire and injury. The SSIC(HW) course ensures that participants are equipped with the essential knowledge to identify, prevent, and respond to hazards associated with hot work in shipyard environments.

Key features of the SSIC(HW) Course:

Duration: 4 hours

Language: Available in English and other languages upon request

Certification: Valid for 2 years upon successful completion

Target Audience: All shipyard workers performing hot work (welding, cutting, grinding, etc.)

Participants will be trained on recognizing hot work hazards, implementing safe work procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), understanding fire prevention techniques, and adhering to shipyard safety protocols.

Greensafe International, known for its commitment to safety excellence and quality training, ensures that the course is delivered by experienced instructors in accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), Singapore. The course also includes practical examples and interactive sessions that simulate real-world scenarios in shipyard settings.

Companies and workers can register online through the official course page. For corporate bookings and group discounts, customized training slots are available upon request.

“Hot work safety training is not just a regulatory requirement – it’s a life-saving measure. With the SSIC(HW) course, we aim to build a safer working environment for all shipyard professionals,” said a spokesperson from Greensafe International.
