Victoria, BC — August 18, 2026 — GT Mann Contracting, a Victoria-based general contractor specializing in commercial and residential construction, has announced continued progress on the Salt + Timber custom home. The project has now moved into its detail-driven finishing stages, with recent milestones on both the interior and exterior bringing the custom residence closer to completion.

Led on-site by Site Supervisor Russell, the Salt + Timber build has become a strong example of the craftsmanship and coordination GT Mann Contracting is known for on custom residential projects. Recent progress has focused on the finishing details that define the home's character.

"Custom homes come down to the details, and Salt + Timber is a project where every detail has been carefully considered," said Graeme Mann at GT Mann Contracting. "Seeing elements like the fir door, the stonework, and the granite finishes all come together is a rewarding stage — it's when the design vision really starts to feel like a home."

Inside the residence, the custom fir front door has been installed, setting the tone for the natural, warm material palette that runs throughout the home. Natural field stone is now being carefully wrapped around the entrance and into the main living space. By carrying the stone seamlessly around the corners, the team has created a clean, custom look that frames the entry and connects the interior and exterior material stories.

The fireplace plaster has also been completed, allowing the stonework to finish tight against it for a refined, built-in appearance. In the kitchen and select interior spaces, granite countertops have been installed, with the final sealer now being applied to protect the natural stone for years of use.

Progress outside has kept pace with interior work. Rough grading is nearing completion, with the backyard taking shape using material from the original site excavation — a sustainable approach that reduces material haul-out and integrates the home more naturally with its site. The septic field and water retention system have also been completed, marking another major milestone as the project moves closer to the finish line.

Salt + Timber is a collaboration between GT Mann Contracting and design partners Hoyt Design Co. and Kazanowski Interiors, whose work has shaped both the architectural direction and the interior finish selections that give the home its distinctive character.
