Gulf University Celebrates Electrical Engineering Student’s First Place Win in Sustainable Transport Competition

The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications announced that Hassan Ali Hassan Mohammed Ahmed, a student from the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Gulf University

 
Has won first place in the “Sustainathon for Sustainable Mobility” competition, which was organized for university students. The award was presented during an official event marking the launch of a package of sustainability initiatives by the Ministry.

The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies ministers, executive leaders, academics, and H.E. Mr. Khaled Al-Maqoud, United Nations Resident Coordinator to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The student secured first place for his innovative project titled: “Smart IoT Pollution, Humidity, Temperature and Noise Monitoring System.” The project was supervised by Dr. Walid Al-Fazani, Head of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Gulf University.

The project aims to develop an intelligent system based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to monitor pollution levels, humidity, temperature, and noise in real time. The system is designed to support environmental decision-making, enhance the sustainability of transport systems, and improve urban quality of life.

The University administration affirmed that this achievement represents a successful model of integration between academic supervision and applied research, further strengthening Gulf University’s position as an educational institution that supports innovation and student excellence at the national level.
