Patent recognises a proprietary Indian methodology developed to improve frontline productivity, accelerate role mastery and address a root cause of employee attrition

Hyderabad, 21 July 2026: TMI Group today announced a landmark achievement in its 35-year journey with the grant of its first Indian patent for an invention focused on measuring, analysing, modelling and improving workforce performance.

The Patent Office, Government of India, has granted Patent No. 596003 for the invention titled “System and Method for Modulating Performance of Subjects in a Work Role.” The patent was granted on 17 July 2026 to TM Inputs and Services Pvt. Ltd., a TMI Group company, and T. Muralidharan, Founder and Chairman of TMI Group and inventor of the methodology. The patent runs for 20 years from 2 May 2023.

The grant is a major milestone for TMI Group, which has worked across recruitment, staffing, skilling, learning and workforce management since 1991. It converts decades of field experience and research into protected Indian intellectual property that can be deployed at scale.

Addressing the real problem behind frontline attrition

Large employers have traditionally responded to frontline attrition by recruiting more people, conducting more training, tightening targets or replacing employees who do not perform. Yet the cycle of hiring, low performance, exit and backfilling continues.

The patented methodology begins with a different diagnosis: high attrition is often the final consequence of an earlier failure to help employees achieve performance quickly enough. The deeper problem is the wide and persistent performance variation between people doing the same job under comparable conditions.

The invention therefore focuses on measuring the performance gap within comparable role cohorts, identifying the critical tasks that drive role outcomes, tracking daily lead indicators, learning from top performers, supporting individual employees and enabling supervisors to coach more effectively.

From outcome measurement to performance modulation

Conventional performance systems largely measure results after the performance period is over. The patented system is designed to help organisations intervene earlier by understanding what creates performance before the final outcome appears.

Its integrated pathway includes data cleaning and workforce analytics, residency-based comparison, cumulative performance measurement, critical-task discovery, lead-indicator tracking, employee segmentation, extraction of high-performer practices, personalised learning, implementation support and continuous tracking.

By comparing employees at similar stages of their role journey, rather than simply placing new entrants and experienced employees in the same calendar-month comparison, the methodology seeks to create a fairer and more actionable picture of performance.

A shift from replacing people to helping more people succeed

“For decades, companies have tried to solve frontline attrition by recruiting more people, conducting more training or replacing employees who do not perform. We discovered that attrition is often the final consequence of an earlier problem—the failure to help an employee achieve performance quickly enough,” said T. Muralidharan, Founder and Chairman of TMI Group.

“The real challenge is the enormous performance variation between people doing the same job in similar conditions. Our invention provides a scientific pathway to measure that variation, understand why it occurs and help more employees achieve role mastery.”

The invention is relevant to sectors with large frontline workforces, including banking, financial services, insurance, retail, consumer products, telecommunications, logistics, e-commerce, field sales and customer operations.
Commercial deployment through Quanta People

TMI Group has assigned the patented intellectual property for commercial deployment through Quanta People, its performance science, analytics and workforce technology enterprise.

Quanta People will incorporate the patented principles into its consulting methodologies, analytics platforms, critical-task mastery systems, lead-indicator tracking tools, frontline digital coaching and supervisor enablement solutions.

“This patent represents the culmination of TMI Group’s experience across recruitment, staffing, learning and workforce management. More importantly, it converts that accumulated experience into intellectual property that can now be deployed at scale through Quanta People,” Muralidharan said.

The grant marks the beginning of a new phase for TMI Group as it evolves from a services-led organisation into an intellectual-property and technology-led workforce innovation group.

Do not wait for employees to fail.
Identify what drives performance, help them master it and intervene early.
