January 08, 2026: Hartek Power, one of India’s leading Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) companies, has been awarded a major renewable energy project in Karnataka. The company has secured the EPC scope for a 280 MW AC and 410 MWp DC solar PV project, along with an 80 MW / 320 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Challakere.
The scope of work includes complete design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and one year of operations and maintenance. The total value of the signed EPC contract stands at approximately ₹353.77 crore.
This project comes at a crucial time as India accelerates efforts to integrate large-scale renewable generation with energy storage to enhance grid stability and ensure reliable power supply. Battery energy storage systems are increasingly being recognised as a key solution for addressing solar intermittency and enabling round-the-clock clean energy availability.
Commenting on the development, Simarpreet Singh, Executive Director and CEO, Hartek Group, said that the project highlights the growing maturity of India’s renewable energy ecosystem, where solar power and storage are now being developed as integrated solutions. He added that Hartek’s continued investments in engineering expertise and execution capabilities have enabled the company to deliver complex, utility-scale projects, and this order marks a significant milestone in strengthening its presence in the battery energy storage segment.
Located in Challakere, an area rapidly emerging as a major renewable energy hub, the project will further contribute to Karnataka’s expanding clean energy capacity. For Hartek, the order reinforces its ability to execute large, technologically advanced projects across diverse geographies while supporting India’s broader clean energy and energy transition goals.
As renewable capacity additions continue to scale nationwide, industry experts note that hybrid solar and storage projects are expected to become increasingly prevalent. Hartek’s latest win positions the company among a select group of solar EPC players capable of delivering next-generation renewable infrastructure at scale.
