Imobisoft highlights a shift in UK tech investment, with West Midlands businesses increasingly modernising core systems through bespoke software and integration. This approach supports strategic growth beyond basic digitisation.

COVENTRY, UK – Imobisoft, a UK-based digital transformation consultancy, is highlighting a growing shift in how organisations across the UK are approaching technology investment, with businesses in the West Midlands increasingly using digital capability as a driver of long-term competitive advantage rather than short-term efficiency.

Across much of the UK, technology spending continues to focus on optimising existing systems and managing operational costs. In contrast, Imobisoft notes that many organisations in the West Midlands are placing greater emphasis on modernising how their core systems work together; investing in bespoke software, integration, and automation to support proprietary data, workflows, and decision-making. This trend aligns with wider regional indicators.

According to the Lloyds Bank Business Barometer, 41 per cent of West Midlands businesses plan to increase technology investment, with automation and digital capability cited as key priorities for growth. The region has also demonstrated sustained investor confidence, securing 130 foreign direct investment projects in the 2024/25 financial year, the highest total of any UK region outside London.

“Technology is no longer just a back-office function,” said Atif Syed, Chief Technology Officer at Imobisoft. “More organisations are recognising that real differentiation comes from how their systems are connected, how their data is used, and how well their technology supports the way they actually operate.”

Rather than replacing existing platforms outright, many businesses are choosing to extend and enhance them through custom-built layers. This approach allows organisations to modernise without the disruption and risk associated with large-scale system replacement, while still gaining greater control over critical digital capabilities.

The broader investment environment is also supportive. In 2025, the West Midlands secured nearly £800 million in combined public and private investment commitments, spanning advanced technology, skills development, and digital infrastructure; reinforcing the region’s position as a hub for practical, technology-led growth.

It is within this context that Imobisoft supports organisations across the UK, helping them design pragmatic technology roadmaps, modernise legacy environments, and build bespoke software capabilities that align digital investment with real commercial objectives.
