Indolift Standardizes Corrosion-Resistant Coating Across Wire Rope Range

Indolift has moved all wire rope SKUs in its catalogue to a consistent galvanized wire finish, replacing the previous approach where corrosion-resistant coating varied by construction type and application.

 
KOLKATA, India August 03, 2026— Indolift, a manufacturer and supplier of lifting and rigging equipment, today announced that it has standardized corrosion-resistant coating specifications across its entire steel wire rope range. The change applies to all wire rope constructions currently in the company's catalogue, including ropes used in general hoisting, crane operations, and outdoor material handling.
Previously, coating specifications varied across individual wire rope products depending on construction type and intended application. Under the new standard, all wire rope SKUs will use a consistent galvanized wire finish, bringing corrosion protection in line across the full range rather than treating it as an option on select products.
Corrosion is one of the most common reasons wire ropes are taken out of service before reaching the end of their mechanical working life. Site conditions in India — coastal humidity, monsoon exposure, proximity to chemical processing areas, and outdoor storage at construction sites — accelerate surface oxidation on ungalvanized or inconsistently coated wire. Once corrosion sets in, individual wires lose cross-sectional area, which reduces the rope's actual breaking strength below its rated value even when the rope shows no visible signs of damage.
"Corrosion resistance isn't something that should depend on which specific rope construction a customer happens to order," said Pradeep Shah, Chief Operating Officer, at Indolift "We wanted every wire rope leaving our facility to meet the same baseline for coating quality, regardless of diameter or lay type. It's a straightforward change, but it closes a gap that existed in how the range was specified."
Under the standardized specification, wire rope in the Indolift range now uses galvanized wire manufactured to consistent zinc coating weight tolerances across all diameters and constructions offered. This replaces the earlier practice of specifying coating on a product-by-product basis. Indolift has also aligned its internal quality documentation so that coating specifications are listed consistently on datasheets across the wire rope catalogue, rather than varying by product page.
The company confirmed that the standardization does not involve any change to the underlying wire rope constructions, breaking strength ratings, or IS 2266 compliance already in place. The change is limited to the coating layer applied to the individual wires before they are stranded into rope.
The standardized wire rope range is available through Indolift's existing sales and distribution channels effective 15-08-2026.
