The Swarthy Channel, a platform blending artificial intelligence and history to spotlight forgotten stories of the African diaspora, has announced that four of its short films have been accepted into an international film festival.
The channel uses AI-generated imagery to reimagine moments from Black history often excluded from mainstream archives, transforming research into visually powerful short documentaries. Each film bridges technology and historical scholarship to inspire global audiences.
“Our goal is to use technology to restore what history erased,” said Sal Austin, creator of The Swarthy Channel. “Every image we generate is an act of remembrance and resistance.”
In addition to its festival success, The Swarthy Channel airs weekly on CANTV, Richmond’s community television network, continuing its mission to educate, empower, and visualize the legacy of Black innovation and resilience.
