About Somnath Hore:
Somnath Hore (1921–2006) stands out as a revolutionary Indian sculptor and printmaker whose art responded to Bengal’s defining historical events, including the Bengal Famine of 1943 and the Tebhaga movement. His pioneering pulp-printing techniques and evocative sculptures made a lasting contribution to modern Indian art. Hore’s significant works are part of the permanent collection at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
