August 5, 2025: Journey Culinary today announced the expansion of its Boulder teaching studio with a new series of Interactive Japanese Street Food Classes created for curious home cooks, corporate teams, and culinary travelers. Responding to strong demand for global food instruction across its Colorado locations, the series transforms class nights into a lively yatai-style tasting experience where guests cook, learn, and eat together.
Each small group session explores rotating regional street specialties. Core lessons include batter making for Osaka-style takoyaki, griddled okonomiyaki with customizable toppings, charcoal-inspired yakitori methods adapted for indoor cooking, crispy chicken karaage, onigiri snack variations, and sweet bites such as taiyaki and matcha crêpes. Participants practice knife skills, quick pickling, sauce building, and plating while learning how to source specialty ingredients locally and online. Students also receive digital recipe packets, equipment tips, and altitude adjustment guides tailored to Colorado kitchens.
“Our guests keep asking for deeper, more interactive global food experiences, and Japanese street cooking delivers pure fun,” said a spokesperson from Journey Culinary. “The sound of batter hitting a hot pan, the aroma of tare-glazed chicken, the shared moment of flipping takoyaki together, it turns a cooking class into a memory. We built this series so anyone can bring that energy home.”
Classes are capped at fourteen participants for meaningful instructor time. Instruction covers traditional techniques along with practical modifications for home setups, including electric griddle approaches, oven broiling alternatives, gluten-friendly batter swaps, and vegetarian adaptations. Select Sunday Family Sessions welcome younger cooks. Every class ends with a plated street stall-style spread and a guided tasting that highlights flavor balance, texture contrast, and beverage pairing ideas with tea, sake, or local craft drinks.
The Japanese Street Food series joins Journey Culinary’s expanding catalog that includes Italian cooking classes, sauces intensives, baking workshops, nutritional cooking programs, and private cooking events across Boulder, Longmont, and Fort Collins. Corporate team-building formats and private group bookings are available, and gift cards are accepted.
