Anna Beresford, a 19-year-old college student and author from New Britain, CT, won the Inner Light Writing Scholarship and donated her $10,000 prize to mental health and domestic violence charities.

Anna Beresford, a published author and mental health advocate, earned top honors in the Inner Light Writing Scholarship, an invite-only national competition for young writers. Her winning essay, which explores themes of healing and self-worth, impressed judges with its depth and honesty.

Rather than keeping the prize money, Anna chose to donate the full $10,000 award to charitable organizations focused on mental health and domestic violence prevention—causes she holds close to her heart.

Currently a college sophomore studying early childhood education and journalism, Anna is also the founder of Anna’s Awareness Initiative, a platform promoting mental health awareness and kindness. She holds the title of Miss Connecticut United Crown of America and has been recognized in state pageants for both her talent and character.

Anna’s story is a powerful example of leadership through compassion and service, inspiring others in the community to make a difference through kindness and advocacy.
