Carlson Investments SE is pleased to highlight its portfolio company PUMaA TECH, a technology startup innovating in healthcare through AI and machine learning (ML). PUMaA TECH is developing a solution to help caregivers monitor and assess pressure ulcers—commonly known as bedsores—enabling faster, low-cost, and more effective evaluation of skin lesions in at-risk patients.

The PUMaA System application applies AI-driven computer vision and ML algorithms to recognize and assess the severity of pressure ulcers. Designed for non-medical caregivers as well as healthcare professionals, the solution provides actionable insights into wound condition and care options, supporting improved patient monitoring and decision-making. While not a replacement for medical professionals, PUMaA TECH empowers users with guidance for better treatment and preventive care.

Funded through the Smart Growth Operational Program 2014–2020, Measure 1.3, PUMaA TECH received PLN 880,000 in EU support for the development of this pre-seed project, with total project costs of PLN 1,100,000. The system is currently available in a test version on Google Play.
