400 Homes. Zero Missed Handovers. Keycon Constructions Hits the Milestone as Victorian Builders Go Under

Posted September 18, 2026 by keyconconstructions

Keycon Constructions celebrates its 400th home, maintaining fixed prices and on-time handovers across Melbourne’s west while offering house and land packages, custom homes, knockdown rebuilds and commercial construction.

The Werribee builder says its fixed-price promise has never broken, even as a fresh wave of insolvencies sweeps Victoria's building industry.

WERRIBEE, VIC, [18th September 2026]: Keycon Constructions has just handed over its 400th home, and every one of them, the company says, landed on the price locked in at contract and on the date promised at signing. The milestone lands as a fresh wave of insolvencies hits Victoria's building industry, with rising material costs pushing fixed-price builders to the wall.
More than 2,600 building companies have collapsed nationally since May 2023, and insolvencies are climbing again in 2026 as builders absorb sharp spikes in diesel, steel, cement and PVC pipe. A Master Builders Victoria survey found 63% of members are locked into fixed-price contracts with no way to pass those costs on, leaving many to eat the difference out of margin, or close altogether.

Keycon Constructions has run on the same fixed-price model since day one. It hasn't missed a handover date yet across any of its ten service suburbs in Melbourne's west: Werribee, Tarneit, Point Cook, Truganina, Hoppers Crossing, Manor Lakes, Wyndham Vale, Aintree, Rockbank and Melton.

“Four hundred homes, four hundred families, and not one of them got a surprise bill at handover. That's the whole idea behind Keycon Constructions: the number on the contract is the number you pay. This year, a lot of builders are finding out they can't keep that promise. We can, and we have. My advice to anyone comparing quotes: if one looks too good to be true, ask what's missing, whether that's site costs, fixtures or energy compliance, because it doesn't vanish, it just turns up later as a variation. We'd rather win the job on a price we can actually stand behind.”

Every Keycon Constructions home is built under the oversight of a licensed building practitioner, with a single point of contact, the builder rather than a sales rep, from contract to handover. Inspections continue at 3, 12 and 24 months, well past the industry-standard 12-month warranty. Standard inclusions across the range: stone benchtops, double-glazed windows, solar PV, 900mm appliances and 7-star energy rating compliance. House and land packages start from $525,000.

The company is still building across all ten service suburbs, with house and land packages available now alongside custom home, knockdown-rebuild and commercial construction services. Quotes typically turn around within 48 hours.
