Toronto Limo Operator Issues Halloween 2026 Travel Advisory as Saturday Date, Two-Night Church Street Party and Clock Change Fall on the Same Weekend

Limousine Rentals Toronto, in business since 1985, has published a public planning guide for October 31. It identifies five points in the evening where group transportation most often breaks down, and gives practical steps for each.

TORONTO, ON – Limousine Rentals Toronto, a family-owned limousine and party bus operator serving the Greater Toronto Area since 1985, today issued a Halloween 2026 travel advisory for residents, event organizers and employers planning group outings this weekend.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and several things are happening on the same night that rarely line up. Halloween on Church, which organizers describe as Canada’s biggest Halloween party, runs two nights for the first time. Canada’s Wonderland’s Halloween Haunt has a fixed late-evening entry cutoff. And Ontario turns its clocks back overnight: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 1, when clocks go back to 1 a.m.

“Every Halloween is busy, but this one puts a lot of pressure on the same few hours,” said Sid (Syed Ibrahim), owner of Limousine Rentals Toronto. “It’s a Saturday, so nobody is going home early. Tens of thousands of people leave Church Street at midnight. Then the clocks change while the city is still trying to get home. Most problems on Halloween night aren’t really about the vehicle. They come from plans that never accounted for the timing.”

Halloween 2026 by the numbers
80,000+: Attendance at last year’s Halloween on Church, a record according to the Church-Wellesley Village BIA.
2 nights: This year’s schedule is Friday, October 30 from 8 p.m. to midnight and Saturday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to midnight, with Church Street closed from Carlton to Gloucester on the 31st.
10 p.m.: The hard entry cutoff for Halloween Haunt at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, where re-entry isn’t permitted.
31%: Share of Canadian adults who planned to celebrate Halloween in 2025, up six points from the year before. Among 18-to-34-year-olds, it was 51%.
43%: How much higher the risk of pedestrian death is on Halloween evening than on comparable nights, according to a 42-year study in JAMA Pediatrics. For children aged 4 to 8, the risk is ten times higher.
About 6 p.m.: When those pedestrian deaths peak, around dusk.
1,194: Impaired-driving arrests reported by Toronto Police as of October 31 last year, with 2,603 related charges.
6°C to 22.5°C: The range of Halloween highs in Toronto over just the past three years. Groups should plan for both cold and rain.
Five points in the evening where plans most often go wrong

The advisory identifies five points in the evening and gives practical guidance for each:

1. 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., residential pickups. Trick-or-treating peaks just as sunset arrives, shortly after 6 p.m. Groups travelling in from the suburbs should be collected before 5:30 p.m. or after trick-or-treating winds down.

2. 8:00 to 10:00 p.m., the Vaughan deadline. Groups going to Halloween Haunt should leave downtown at least 90 minutes before the 10 p.m. cutoff. Costumes are prohibited during Haunt, so groups need to plan where they’ll change.

3. Downtown curbside. King Street between Bathurst and Jarvis is a permanent transit priority corridor that gives streetcars priority over private vehicles. Pickup points should be set at named cross-streets, not at venue entrances.

4. Midnight, the Church Street exit. When street programming ends, crowds from the Village and nightlife in the Entertainment District head home at the same time. Halloween isn’t on the TTC’s holiday service calendar. Overnight Blue Night Network service starts around 1:30 a.m., with buses every 30 minutes or better.

5. 1:00 a.m., the hour that happens twice. Because clocks fall back at 2 a.m., a booking from “8 p.m. to 2 a.m.” actually lasts seven hours, and a “1:30 a.m. pickup” can mean two different times. The company advises anyone with an hourly booking (vehicles, venues or staff) to confirm in writing which clock the end time follows and how the extra hour is billed.

The safest number of drivers in a group is zero

The advisory emphasizes that the most effective safety step is to remove driving from the night entirely.

“Halloween night means masks that block peripheral vision, kids crossing between parked cars, closed streets, and a lot of people who have been drinking,” Ibrahim said. “We tell every group the same thing: the best number of people behind the wheel in your group is zero. A chauffeured vehicle, a planned transit route home, or a designated driver who isn’t drinking at all. Any of those is better than deciding at midnight.”

For larger groups, a shared vehicle can cost less per person than many people expect. Published 2026 Toronto rates for a 30-passenger party bus on a Saturday night run about $800 to $1,200 for four hours before tax and gratuity. Including 13% HST and a standard gratuity, that’s roughly $51 to $80 per person for a group of 20.

Booking checklist for any provider

The advisory recommends that consumers confirm the following with any transportation provider before paying a deposit:

A written, all-in quote that covers HST, gratuity, tolls, overtime and the November 1 time change.
That the company owns the vehicle rather than subcontracting the booking.
City of Toronto licensing. The City requires limo drivers to pass criminal background and driving-history checks, requires vehicles to pass City inspections, and requires at least $2 million in liability insurance.
Named pickup points away from road closures.
A dispatch phone number that will be answered between midnight and 2 a.m.
