Lipoedge highlights advanced Liposomal Vitamin C delivery, using phospholipid encapsulation to support stability, absorption and efficient nutrient delivery for nutraceutical and cosmeceutical applications.

Kolkata, India – October 26, 2026: Lipoedge's liposomal Vitamin C delivery addresses critical challenges those are associated with conventional supplementation. West Bengal Chemical Industries Limited (WBCIL), Kolkata, uses this technology for sunflower-derived phosphatidylcholine to encapsulate Vitamin C within a phospholipid-based delivery system.

Vitamin C is an essential water-soluble nutrient involved in antioxidant protection, immune function, collagen synthesis and iron absorption. However, conventional oral Vitamin C absorption is subject to physiological transport limitations. Liposomal delivery provides an alternative approach by incorporating the water-soluble nutrient within phospholipid vesicles, which can help protect the active ingredient and support its transport across biological interfaces.

In a nutshell, we can conclude that liposomes are transporter protein independent which improves overall absorption.

According to the published research, the WBCIL formulation demonstrated 91.98% encapsulation efficiency, indicating a high level of Vitamin C entrapment within the liposomal structure. Dynamic Light Scattering analysis recorded an average particle size of 184 nm and a polydispersity index of 0.334, reflecting uniform particle distribution. The formulation also recorded a zeta potential of −33.7 mV, supporting electrostatic stability and resistance to aggregation.

The study incorporated multiple analytical techniques, including HPLC, FTIR, XPS, DLS, DSC and SEM, to evaluate encapsulation, molecular interactions, particle characteristics, morphology and stability. SEM observations showed well-defined, spherical vesicles with no significant aggregation under the experimental conditions.

Stability assessment further demonstrated strong retention of the encapsulated nutrient. During a six-month leakage study at 40°C ± 2°C and 75% ± 5% relative humidity, encapsulation efficiency remained within approximately 90–92%. Thermal testing at 105°C for four hours also showed retention of the liposomal structure, with encapsulation efficiency increasing from 91.98% to 93% under the tested conditions.

The findings position Liposomal Vitamin C as a vital ingredient for nutraceutical, functional food and selected topical applications where stability, encapsulation and efficient nutrient delivery are necessary.

For manufacturers exploring differentiated Vitamin C delivery systems, the Lipoedge technology offers formulation and analytical support for nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and pharmaceutical formulations.
