Free Construction-Literacy Apprenticeship Launches in Dallas–Fort Worth to Fill Skilled Labor Gaps

DALLAS, TX - January 2026 — Build the Trade: Construction-Literacy Apprenticeship officially launches this month as a free 12-week program for adults (21+) interested in starting a career in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work. Funded by COABE and NCCER grants, the program is designed to eliminate financial and literacy barriers that often prevent skilled, motivated individuals from entering the trades.

Participants will earn OSHA-10 and NCCER Level 1 certifications, gain real-world jobsite experience, and receive tailored instruction in reading, math, and communication—all aligned with the construction-specific tasks of reading blueprints, calculating measurements, and writing site documentation.

Sponsorship & In-Kind Opportunities

To ensure the program remains accessible and high-quality, Build the Trade is actively seeking sponsors and in-kind donations from businesses, community organizations, and individuals. These contributions directly support training needs and help us provide a safe, well-equipped learning environment for every apprentice. Cohort 25 will include 20–25 apprentices preparing to launch their careers.

About Allen Learnimy, LLC

Founded in 2021, Allen Learnimy, LLC began with a mission to promote financial independence through adult literacy. Today, our focus has expanded to address a critical workforce need: literacy gaps in skilled trades. In the construction, manufacturing, and service industries, many workers struggle with job-related reading and writing, leading to safety risks, high turnover, and increased training costs. Our purpose is to equip workers with the literacy and technical skills needed to perform confidently, advance in their careers, and improve their families' quality of life.
