A team of scientists have discovered a new class of antibiotics with 100% oral bioavailability to fight drug-resistant bacteria including MRSA, a serious threat to public health.
This new class, called oxadiazoles, was discovered in silico screening and inhibits penicillin-binding protein 2a (PBP2a) and the biosynthesis of the cell wall which enable MRSA to resist other drugs.
