Lusaka — A recent viewer call-in poll conducted during a political discussion program has sparked debate after placing Harry Kalaba at the top with 44.2% support, ahead of other political figures.

The interactive poll, which invited viewers to vote during the live broadcast, showed Kalaba leading closely followed by Makebi Zulu, who secured 40.1% of the votes.

The interactive poll, which invited viewers to vote during the live broadcast, showed Kalaba leading closely followed by Makebi Zulu, who secured 40.1% of the votes.

Other figures in the poll included Brian Mundubile with 5.8%, Fred Mmembe with 5.5%, and incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema with 4.4%.

Political observers say the results may reflect growing interest among some viewers in alternative leadership options.

Kalaba, a former foreign affairs minister and long-time political figure, has recently been vocal on governance and economic issues, positioning himself as a strong voice in national political debates.

While the poll is not a scientific survey of the electorate, analysts say such audience engagement can sometimes offer insight into emerging political conversations among politically active citizens.
As discussions around leadership and national direction continue, many observers say it will be interesting to see how Zambia’s political future ultimately shapes up.
