LOS ANGELES, CA, June 2026 – Bridge Publications, publisher of the nonfiction works of L. Ron Hubbard, has received a Hermes Gold Creative Award for its commemorative leatherbound edition of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, recognizing excellence in design, craftsmanship and creative execution.
The leatherbound released during the 75th anniversary year of Dianetics, first published on May 9, 1950. Since its release, the book has become the most widely read work on the subject of the human mind and continues to reach readers around the world in 50 languages.
To mark the opening of each new Church of Scientology, Bridge Publications creates a unique leatherbound edition of Dianetics. Every volume is individually designed to reflect the culture, history and character of the city in which the Church is located.
The design process begins with extensive research. Elements such as leather color, ribbon markers, endsheet papers and custom artwork are selected to capture the spirit of the region. An iconic image representing the area is stamped onto the back cover, making each edition a distinctive tribute to its community.
Only 500 copies of each commemorative edition are produced. Every book is individually hand-numbered creating a limited collector's edition whose proceeds help support a campaign to invite the community into the Church.
This Hermes-winning edition celebrates the opening of the Church of Scientology of Puerto Rico. Bound in radiant yellow leather inspired by the Church's architectural motif, the volume features an image of Castillo San Felipe del Morro—commonly known as El Morro—embossed on the back cover. Handmade marbled endsheets lend a classic elegance while showcasing a complementary color palette.
The Hermes Creative Awards recognize outstanding work by creative professionals around the world. This latest honor adds to a growing list of Hermes awards received by Bridge Publications over the years, reflecting the organization's continued commitment to excellence in book design, production and publishing.
For Bridge, the recognition is more than an award for a single project. It represents a dedication to preserving and presenting the works of L. Ron Hubbard through publications that combine craftsmanship, innovation and cultural significance. Through meticulous attention to detail and a passion for quality, Bridge Publications continues to produce books that are both enduring works of knowledge and celebrated achievements in design.
