Makana.com, the online marketplace for used heavy equipment based in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai, has completed its first year of operation with 100 machines sold to buyers in nine countries. The company marked its first anniversary on September 1, 2026, and has published its first-year results on its website.
During the year, 17 consignors, including contractors, fleet owners and equipment dealers, placed 314 machines with Makana across multiple equipment categories, representing more than AED 60 million in consigned value. Machines sold ranged from compact site equipment to specialised heavy machinery, including 17 skid steer loaders, five wheel loaders, four boom loaders and a Komatsu PC850 long boom excavator.
Makana works on a consignment model in which equipment owners place machines with the platform instead of managing enquiries and buyers themselves. Depending on the machine, the company carries out inspection and operational testing, then prepares photography, 3D and 360-degree views, technical specifications and an inspection report covering more than 75 checkpoints. Sellers using the consignment service receive payment within three to five days of a completed sale.
The company also completed four online machinery auctions in its first year, offering inspected equipment through competitive bidding alongside fixed-price listings. Several buyers and sellers took part in more than one auction, which the company said shows the format is becoming a regular channel for trading used machinery.

Makana noted that demand for used machinery is spread across many markets, and that the buyer for a particular machine may be located in Dubai, Riyadh, Africa or Asia. According to the company, owners typically consign equipment when renewing a fleet, replacing an older machine, reducing unused equipment or releasing capital for a new project.
Makana's fifth auction, Auction 05, opened for bidding on October 1, 2026, and includes inspected machinery, vehicles and other lots.
