My Homecare Haringey has announced an expansion of its accompanied travel support services across the London Borough of Haringey and surrounding North London areas. The service is designed to help older adults, individuals with mobility challenges, and adults recovering from illness or surgery maintain active connections with their local communities.
Navigating urban transportation, managing hospital corridors, and moving safely through crowded public areas can present significant physical hurdles for independent living. The expanded travel assistance service addresses these challenges by pairing service users with trained care assistants who provide door-to-door physical support and companionship.
Care staff assist individuals with a wide range of outings, including attendance at routine general practitioner appointments, dental visits, and specialist clinics at regional facilities such as The Whittington Hospital and North Middlesex University Hospital. Beyond healthcare visits, the service supports everyday activities such as grocery shopping at Wood Green Shopping City, banking, visits to local parks, and social club gatherings in Crouch End, Highgate, and Tottenham.
The service also extends to short-term domestic travel and family holidays, where dedicated carers accompany individuals to manage personal care routines, mobility assistance, and prescription schedules throughout the trip.
All care assistants undergo certified training in safe moving and handling techniques, accessibility planning, and wheelchair operation. Care plans are customized following an in-home assessment to determine mobility needs, transport preferences, and individual scheduling requirements.
