London, United Kingdom. Marocafella, a premier Moroccan brand and cultural movement founded by Chaoui, known as Mr Marocafella and the Banksy of Morocco, has announced its significant involvement in the upcoming British film Tales from the Trap, set for release in 2026. The film stars renowned British actor and producer Terry Stone, and part of it was shot inside the iconic Marocafella Studio in London. The brand also played a pivotal role in casting actors for the production. In what is believed to be a first for a major British film, 15 Moroccans have been involved in the movie, marking a historic milestone for Moroccan representation in British cinema. Behind this achievement stands the Marocafella team. Tarik has been with the brand from the very beginning of the podcast, alongside Hisham and Loubna, who joined as the movement grew. It was Chaoui who originally connected the dots and lined up the film opportunity. He then called upon Tarik to join him on the project, and together the two held key meetings and worked closely with the production team to bring everything to life. This was very much a collective effort, with the whole Marocafella team playing a pivotal role every step of the way. All three MarocafellaTV hosts, Tarik, Hisham, and Loubna, also appear in the film. Tarik in particular delivers a standout performance, featuring in multiple scenes with spoken lines, a remarkable step from podcast host to the big screen. Founded by Chaoui, Marocafella is far more than a clothing label. The name Marocafella means Moroccan, a direct declaration of identity and heritage. The name comes from the streets. Chaoui was the originator. When lockdown came in 2020, he finally made it happen. Unlike conventional brands, Marocafella has no single face, because every Moroccan is Marocafella. Among the brand's most iconic designs is a logo styled as a classic Moroccan number plate, black with silver writing, bearing the numbers 788 and 1956. The number 788 represents the year Morocco was founded as a nation under the Idrisid dynasty. The number 1956 marks the year Morocco gained its independence from colonial rule. In 2023, Chaoui founded MarocafellaTV, the first UK Moroccan podcast. Now broadcasting from the Marocafella Studio in London, the podcast has grown to over 5,000 YouTube subscribers and hosted prominent guests including Mohamed Bassou, Ahmed Sultan, Ash Barba known for Top Boy on Netflix, Nabil Elouahabi known for Trigger Point and Tower Block, BAFTA-nominated Youssef Kerkour who starred in House of Gucci and Napoleon, and professional boxer Super Youssef also known as Youssef Khoumari, a former English Lightweight Champion.
