Emerging under the artistic name Alauna, the evocative single My Darling Lover (Where Have You Been?) marks the beginning of a new artistic journey suspended between dream and ritual.

The track will be released worldwide on March 6, 2026, on all digital platforms via Maxy Sound, accompanied by a lyric video directed by Martina Pizzi for Winterlight Studio.

Blending Celtic roots with the spirit of the British and Breton folk revival of the 1970s, the song unfolds as a delicate folk-electro composition where myth and introspection intertwine. Originally written for harp and solo voice, the piece evolved in the studio into a layered soundscape enriched by the choral voices of Lucia de Carlo, the bodhrán of Andree Bottiglioni, and electronic textures crafted by Massimiliano Titi at Maxy Sound Studio. The result is an immersive sonic landscape where acoustic intimacy meets atmospheric depth.

The narrative takes the shape of a dialogue between two separated lovers. One voice questions, the other responds with confessions of disorientation: “I lost my way”, “Far is my home now, but wide is the sea.” Repeated phrases assume an incantatory quality, like ancient formulas, drawing the listener into a liminal dimension between presence and absence. It remains deliberately ambiguous whether the lovers truly meet, whether they are alive, or whether their encounter unfolds in a symbolic or dreamlike realm.

Before the instrumental interlude, the song evokes the myth of the Hunt: the co-protagonist chases a deer only to discover that he himself is the prey. From this turning point, the narrative transforms into a metaphor for loss. The sea becomes a powerful symbol — a liminal space of surrender and emotional disorientation, where the protagonist loses himself, his love, and the possibility of returning home.

The instrumental section, inspired by Breton andro dances, embodies transformation through shifting rhythms and tonalities. Narrative tension dissolves into movement, echoing the unstoppable flow of life and offering emotional catharsis.
The track resonates with echoes of artists such as An Triskell, Pentangle, Alan Stivell, Malicorne, The Incredible String Band, and Loreena McKennitt, merging myth, memory, and introspection into a sound suspended between ancient roots and contemporary experimentation.

Alauna studied harp with masters from various Celtic nations, embracing traditional and oral approaches, and has performed at folk festivals and intimate venues across Europe. My Darling Lover (Where Have You Been?) opens a forthcoming series of releases alternating original compositions and reinterpretations of traditional material — a journey through ritual, dream, and ancestral sonic landscapes.
