DataByteWorks Launches AI-First Healthcare Practice To Automate Prior Authorization And Claims

DataByteWorks has launched an AI-first healthcare operations practice that helps clinics automate prior authorization, eligibility checks, and claims, starting with a 90-day pilot as new CMS prior authorization rules take effect.

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – DataByteWorks, a software development company, has launched an AI-first healthcare operations practice to help clinics and provider groups automate the administrative work that slows them down.
The practice targets three of the most time-consuming workflows in a clinic: prior authorization, insurance eligibility verification, and claims processing.

The launch is designed to help U.S. clinics adapt to new federal prior authorization requirements under the CMS Interoperability and Prior Authorization Final Rule (CMS-0057-F).

Since the start of 2026, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, CHIP, and other affected payers must return prior authorization decisions within 72 hours for urgent requests and seven calendar days for standard requests. From January 1, 2027, these payers must also support electronic prior authorization through standard APIs. CMS estimates the rule will save about $15 billion over ten years.
As payers speed up, clinics need complete, accurate requests ready just as quickly. The practice combines AI, workflow automation, and human review across the revenue cycle:
Prior authorization: gathers the required clinical documentation, checks payer requirements, and prepares and tracks each request.
Eligibility: verifies coverage and benefits before the patient arrives.
Claims: reviews submissions for errors before they are sent and supports follow-up on denials.
The systems connect to a clinic's existing practice management and EHR software rather than replacing it, and staff stay in control of every decision.
Every engagement starts with a 90-day pilot focused on a single workflow, so clinics can measure the impact of automation before expanding:
Days 1–30, Map and Baseline: document the clinic's current workflow and record baseline metrics, including turnaround time, denial rate, and staff hours.
Days 31–60, Build and Test: build the automation and test it with a limited set of payers or locations.
Days 61–90, Measure and Decide: compare results against the baseline, giving the clinic real data to decide whether to expand.
DataByteWorks brings hands-on healthcare experience to the practice. The company has built a platform for a behavioral healthcare provider and developed an insurance eligibility verification system for a dental organization. Both projects involved the same challenges clinics face today: sensitive patient data, frequently changing payer rules, and front-office teams with little time to spare.

"Clinic staff shouldn't have to spend their day chasing fax confirmations and re-keying insurance details," said Reena Patel, Founder of DataByteWorks. "The new CMS rules require payers to move faster, and clinics need to be ready to keep pace. Our approach is AI-first but human-checked: we automate the repetitive work, keep people in charge of the decisions, and prove the value within 90 days before anyone commits to more," she adds further.

Clinics and provider groups can book a free 30-minute workflow review with the DataByteWorks team. Each review looks at one workflow, such as prior authorization, eligibility, or claims, and identifies where automation could save the most staff time.
