NOIDA, India | 5 November 2026- With autumn underway, seasonal changes can influence the presentation and exacerbation of respiratory conditions. The Seasonal Waves of Respiratory Disorders (SWORD) study, conducted across outpatient centres in India, found significant seasonal variations in visits for common respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, respiratory tract infections and tuberculosis. Physicians, intensivists, family doctors and other clinicians encounter patients with these conditions regularly irrespective of their speciality.
Consequently, a doctor with sound knowledge of respiratory medicine is better placed to recognise concerning symptoms early, initiate appropriate assessments and identify patients who need specialist referral or advanced care. A structured fellowship supports this learning and helps doctors stay updated with current clinical guidelines.
MediCOLL Learning, a medical education platform for healthcare professionals, offers a Fellowship in Respiratory Medicine for doctors who care for patients with lung, airway and pleural disease. The curriculum is organised into 21 modules. It begins with the structure and physiology of the respiratory system and extends to surgical, public health and digital aspects of pulmonary care.
The fellowship is designed by Dr. Ayush Pandey, an experienced pulmonologist and critical care medicine expert with over 10 years of extensive clinical experience. His expertise covers respiratory diseases, critical care, interventional pulmonology, allergy, cardiology, nephrology and neonatal care. He has completed multiple advanced fellowships and certifications, including from AAAAI (USA), ACE (India) and the International School of Non-Invasive Ventilation (Spain). Dr. Pandey also holds an Executive Programme in Healthcare Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Law and Ethics from the National Law School, Bengaluru. He has authored over 15 research publications and serves on the editorial boards of several journals.
The fellowship is intended for doctors seeking structured, specialty-level learning in respiratory medicine and a systematic approach to the care of patients with respiratory conditions. It aims to help doctors develop greater familiarity with interpreting spirometry and blood gas results, understanding chest imaging, choosing investigations that fit the clinical presentation, managing long-term lung conditions in accordance with the current clinical practices, and recognising early when a patient needs ventilatory or intensive care support. The fellowship also addresses rehabilitation and follow-up, which matter for patients living with chronic lung disease.
The fellowship runs for 12 months and follows a blended approach, combining 10 months of live sessions led by Dr. Pandey, who not only teaches the theoretical content but also conducts case discussions and addresses the queries of the enrolled doctors. Once the 10 months of live classes are completed, the enrolled doctors move on to 2 months of clinical training in a super-speciality hospital under the guidance of a pulmonary expert, which exposes them to real-life patient scenarios.
