M.P. Shah Hospital Announces Full Reinstatement of SHA/SHIF Services

SHA cover is accepted again for inpatient and outpatient care, and patients with deferred appointments get first call on new slots

Patients with Social Health Authority (SHA) cover can use it at M.P. Shah Hospital again. The hospital has fully reinstated SHA/SHIF services, and they are active from today.

Cover applies to the inpatient and outpatient services M.P. Shah is contracted to provide under SHA. If you were holding off on booking a visit until services returned, you can go ahead now.

Getting your appointment back

The hospital has not forgotten the patients whose appointments were deferred while services were paused. If that includes you, phone or email and the team will find you a new date. You will be booked ahead of new routine requests.

It helps to have your full name, SHA number and the date of your original appointment ready when you get in touch. Call 0111 000 600 or write to [email protected].

Anyone whose symptoms have got worse in the meantime should not wait for a rebooked slot. The emergency line is 0707 044 115, and you can go straight to Accident & Emergency.

On the day

Bring your national ID and SHA details to registration so staff can confirm your cover. The hospital’s departments run from Accident & Emergency and inpatient admission to a cardiac clinic, a breast clinic and cancer care. Which of these SHA pays for depends on the hospital’s contract, so if you are unsure about a particular treatment, ask at reception or phone ahead.

Why it matters

SHA is how many Kenyan families pay for healthcare, and when a hospital drops out of the network, people feel it at home. A scan gets put off. A follow-up slips. Someone starts asking whether they can afford to go at all. With M.P. Shah back in, patients across Nairobi can use the cover they contribute to at a hospital many of them have relied on for generations.

“SHA services are fully back as of today,” said for M.P. Shah Hospital. “Our first job is to see the patients who had to wait, and our teams are ready for them. People have been patient and have kept their trust in us, and we are grateful for that. Healthcare should be within reach of the people who need it.”

The hospital thanks its patients, their families and the wider public for their patience and continued trust.
