Aug 12th 2026: Mulberry Greenhouses, a U.S.-based retailer of premium residential greenhouse structures, has announced the addition of four newly imported product lines from Hoklartherm and its modern KGT division in Germany. The new offering — the Linea II, Santini II, Riga 4 Black and Riga 5 Black variants, and the Berlin Solarveranda — broadens the company's catalog of European-engineered structures and marks one of the earliest U.S. introductions of these models since their European release.
The expansion arrives during a sustained period of growth in the residential controlled-environment segment of the U.S. greenhouse market. Data published by the United States Department of Agriculture, Economic Research Service, indicate that controlled-environment agriculture operations in the U.S. more than doubled between 2009 and 2019, rising from approximately 1,476 operations to 2,994. Industry analysts have valued the broader U.S. greenhouse market at approximately $ 9.5 billion in 2024, with projected growth supported by rising consumer interest in home food production, year-round growing, and outdoor architectural structures.
The National Gardening Association reported in its most recent industry survey that approximately 80 percent of U.S. households participate in some form of lawn and garden activity, a participation rate the organization has described as a five-year high. Independent industry observers estimate that between 15 and 18 million new gardeners have entered the U.S. market since 2020, with a meaningful share now seeking larger, more durable growing structures than entry-level hoop houses or hobby kits.
The four newly imported models address different segments of this expanding category. The Linea II, manufactured by KGT, is a contemporary mono-pitch greenhouse with a low peak height and a clean architectural profile, available in either 10mm twin-wall polycarbonate or 4mm tempered glass with a polycarbonate roof. The Santini II shares the same modern silhouette as the Linea II but is fitted with 16mm triple-wall polycarbonate panels designed to deliver substantially improved thermal performance for cold-climate growing. Both models target buyers who want a modern design language that integrates with contemporary residential architecture.
The Riga 4 Black and Riga 5 Black are redesigned variants of Hoklartherm's established Riga line. They retain the signature onion-dome silhouette, German aluminum framing, and twin-wall polycarbonate glazing of the original Riga structures, but introduce a black powder-coated frame, a cast metal roof crown, and a clear plexiglass front gable. The result is what the manufacturer describes as a more upscale, jewelbox-style presentation of a structure already widely recognized in the residential market for its winter performance.
The Berlin Solarveranda represents a different category. Engineered by Hoklartherm and recognized with the Innovation Prize Lower Saxony 2000 and the Bavarian State Prize 2001, the Berlin features a curved aluminum frame with large patented sliding plexiglass panels that allow the structure to convert between fully enclosed and open-air configurations. The model is positioned for buyers seeking a flexible covered outdoor living space that complements, rather than replaces, a traditional growing greenhouse.
All four product lines are manufactured in Apen, Germany, where Hoklartherm has produced aluminum greenhouse systems since 1982. The company is known across European residential markets for its torsion-resistant framing, powder-coated finishes, and weather-tested hardware. Mulberry Greenhouses has worked with Hoklartherm and Exaco, the U.S. importer for Hoklartherm products, for several years, and the new additions represent an expansion of that established supply relationship rather than a new manufacturer partnership.
“This expansion reflects what we have observed across the residential greenhouse market over the past several years. U.S. buyers are no longer treating greenhouses as seasonal sheds. They are investing in structures that perform over decades and adapt to their evolving goals. Our role is to make premium European engineering accessible to American homeowners and serious gardeners without compromise. That long-term value proposition is what continues to define how we build our catalog and our partnerships with manufacturers,” said a spokesperson for Mulberry Greenhouses.
Industry observers have noted a broader shift in how U.S. consumers approach outdoor structures. Where a generation ago a backyard greenhouse was often a single-season utility purchase, current buyer behavior reflects longer ownership timelines, greater attention to insulation and energy efficiency, and increased interest in structures that serve dual purposes — growing space, sitting room, studio, or outdoor entertaining area. Premium European manufacturers have historically led the residential market in this kind of multi-purpose design, and U.S. distributors have moved to expand access to those models.
Mulberry Greenhouses currently offers an introductory pre-order pricing window on the four new product lines while initial inventory is en route from Germany. The company has indicated that pre-order delivery timelines, foundation requirements, and accessory configurations will be communicated to buyers on an individual basis, given the structural variation across the four models. Standard delivery terms, including freight handling and customer support, remain consistent with the company's established practices for imported greenhouse products.
The addition of the new Hoklartherm and KGT models follows several years of catalog expansion at Mulberry Greenhouses, which now carries product lines from manufacturers across Belgium, Germany, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Denmark. The company has stated that further additions to the catalog will be evaluated against the same criteria used for the current expansion: structural longevity, manufacturer reputation, and alignment with the long-term growth goals of U.S. residential buyers.
