BEAVERTON, Ore., Oct. 14, 2026 - Translators who work in MemoQ, Trados or Phrase can now run their project files through an AI translation platform without leaving their CAT tool setup. Tomedes, a professional translation company, has added XLIFF and MQXLIFF support to MachineTranslation.com, so files exported from a CAT tool come back translated in the same format.
XLIFF is the exchange format behind tools including MemoQ, Trados, Phrase, Wordfast and OmegaT. One file carries the source text, target segments, segment identifiers and project metadata, which lets a project move between tools and team members intact. MQXLIFF is the variant MemoQ uses. Until now, translators who wanted to use MachineTranslation.com on this content had to copy the text into a plain document and place the results back into the project themselves, losing the segment structure along the way.
With the update, a translator exports the file from the CAT tool, uploads it, picks the language pair and downloads the result in the original format. Importing it back puts each translated segment in its original position, ready for the usual review and quality checks.
Behind the output, the platform has multiple AI models translate each segment, compares the results and keeps the version most of them agree on. Many AI features inside CAT tools rely on a single model that offers one suggestion per segment.
Tomedes said XLIFF support was among the features its professional users asked for most often, and that handling the format on both upload and download removes a manual conversion step from their projects.
The feature is available now on the MachineTranslation.com AI translator, which supports more than 330 languages.
